Fixed and Changing
Site specific Installation with humidity test paper, clay, and powdered glaze pigment
64.9” X 15’ X 20’
The installation titled “Fixed and Changing” consists of a ceramic slab hung in a hole cut in the wall and a snap line of glaze pigment that was applied to it prior to firing. The line was snapped at exactly my eye height. Across the room small strips of humidity test paper that changed color from blue to pink depending on their local humidity were hung at this exact same height. They were spaced every 5.5 centimeters and varied in color over the duration of the installation. The installation was based on a deconstruction of clay materials as somewhat objective indicators of the localized environment of my studio.
