There From Here

(From the exhibition: Horizon Lines - a two person exhibition with Sandra Erbacher at Pier 1218 in Madison, WI)

Hand formed porcelain & earthenware, graphite drawing and Sponge

Installation: 65” X 180” X 60”

2013

Untitled #2 consists of multiple different types of clay that have been tacked together and fused in the kiln. The ceramic is stuck into the wall at the height of 65” which is the center of my eye. Across the room, almost #5 consists of separate ceramic tripod forms situated on the floor that rely on gravity to stack on top of one another. The estimated scale of each preceding object increases empirically. In sequence, each fragile singular form empathically depends on its predecessors to form a sturdy, stratified sculpture. The horizon line of the wall and floor behind the sculpture is drawn onto the object from the perspective of Untitled #2.
