Extruded ceramic & slip

32 feet of clay was extruded through a die in the shape of baseboard, echoing the length of a nearby gallery wall. What was once a linear architectural feature that mediates the connection between a floor and wall was then rolled back upon itself to form a single massive object.
Glimpses 2012 (Another Huge Invisible Sculpture)
commercial glazed ceramic plates and digitally-printed ceramic decals
1.5” X 62 X 24”
2012
Night-sky scenes from the 1959 Eames’ film Glimpses of the USA inspired an artwork that utilizes an iphone app to capture star constellations. Pointing the device towards the gallery floor gathered photographic images depicting far-off southern hemisphere stars. These site-specific images were then transferred onto locally decorated, commercial plates.
Almost #1
Ceramic
24” X 30” X 24”

Separate ceramic tripod forms situated on the floor that rely on gravity to stack on top of one another. The estimated scale of each preceding object increases empirically. In sequence, each fragile singular form empathically depends on its predecessors to form a sturdy, stratified sculpture.
Corner #5
Ceramic
11” X 11” X .5”
012
The fifth of a five edition set, the shape of this tile is predicted by a 4X6 image I shot of the corner space in the gallery where the tile hangs. The printed photograph was placed in the center of each tile and featured four major planes: left wall, floor, ceiling, and right wall. All but two of the planes were redacted from the image. The other two portions of the photograph were cut away from the tile, leaving only the boarder and two architectural planes.
